Thomas Edwin “Tommy” Wilson
November 24, 1934
March 8, 2017
Savannah native Thomas Edwin “Tommy” Wilson (age 82 years) passed peacefully, relieved of the difficult illness of which he has suffered for more than a decade. He was the only child of the late William Samuel Wilson and Leticia Chambers Wilson. Tommy was a graduate of Carlyle Military School in Bamberg, South Carolina. He worked for Union Camp Corporation, then Savannah Electric and Power Company from which he retired after 37 years of service; and was a member of IBEW Local 1208.
Tommy enjoyed camping vacations in the Carolinas, Tennessee and Georgia especially during the fall of the year; as well as hunting and fishing. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patsy Kennedy Wilson. Despite his failing memory and inability to communicate in meaningful conversation, Tommy would daily tell Patsy he loved her and kiss her hand.
He is also survived by 2 children: daughter, Carol Ann Barbee and husband Bill, and son, Thomas Edwin “Eddie” Wilson, Jr. and wife Lisa; granddaughter, Rachel Wilson Hilton and husband Stephen Hilton, grandson Stephen Samuel Wilson, grandson Alex Barbee; and great-granddaughter Payton Elizabeth Wilson who always made him smile.
Thank you for your prayers, love and support during his illness. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 201 Television Circle, Savannah, GA 31406, or St. Joseph’s/Candler Foundation, 5356 Reynolds Street, Suite 400, Savannah, GA 31405 (to benefit children living with diabetes in summer camp).
A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery with longtime friend Brother Billy Miller officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the cemetery.
